What are fasteners?
Fasteners are mechanical devices that join two surfaces together. It is a non-permanent solution in joining objects and can be removed or dismantled without damaging the surface. Nylon fasteners, Canco Fasteners, Metal Fasteners, nuts and bolts, screws are all examples of fasteners.
Find your fastener -
By type -
i. Bolts — Bolts are long structures usually made from metals. It comprises a head at one end, pointy edge at the other, and the shaft is made of helical pattern to provide a comfortable drive into the surface. It is usually inserted into a nut or washer.
ii. Nuts — They are also a type of fastener, usually in the shape of a hexagon. It is a metal block with female threading inside corresponding to a male thread of a bolt or screw. Nuts are a quick method to make temporary connections.
iii. Washers — are thin metal plates with a hole in the centre. They are used to distribute the load of other fasteners like bolt or nut.
iv. Nails — Nails also has a head at one end and a pointy tip. They are used to fasten woods and sometimes metals.
v. Screws — are very much similar to bolts. Just like bolts, screws have a head and a pointy tail and also have a threaded shaft. Unlike Bolts, screws can be used on the surface without any threading.
By material -
i. Stainless steel — They are a popular choice of material in fastener production. It is anti-corrosive but prone to galling. It is weaker than metal fasteners. Its non-corrosive property makes it an ideal option for outdoor works, especially in cities.
ii. Metal fasteners — They are stronger and have significant load bear capacity than stainless steel, but they are corrosive since the main element is Iron. Sometimes Iron is replaced with Titanium. Highly used in woodwork.
iii. Plastic Fasteners — Plastic fasteners meet a lot of design requirements such as strength, rigidity, Good electrical, and thermal properties. They are usually used in automobiles, electronic equipment, etc. Nylon Fasteners are a popular type of plastic fastener.
How to select your supplier!
i. Online review — Check for the website on the internet. Go through the reviews to understand the durability and strength of fasteners they provide.
ii. Selection — Your fastener selection depends on many factors such as material to be joined, working environment, etc. Find the supplier, who provides a wide variety of options you can choose from.
iii. Price — Price is a major factor in selecting your fastener. When bought in bulk, small changes per unit will reflect big changes in the final pay. The overall aim is always to keep the cost low.
iv. Shipping — Two factors to consider in shipping is the cost and speed. Find the supplier who can ship you the product at a lower price with the fastest delivery. Settle with a supplier who provides at least a balanced scheme between speed and cost.
v. Customer support — This can come handy sometimes. Customer support can help you in tracking your order or an inquiry about a product.
